How to Trace a Cell Phone Number

This new technology will help a person to find a certain person through his cell phone number. Now, this is possible because of GPS (Global Positioning System) and GSM (Global System for Mobile Communication) technology. It uses repeater from hop to hop linking to the satellite then down linking it to an area where the active phone number is located.

This came about after recent important incidents happened on September 11, 2001. Early in 2006, cell phone transporters compulsorily had to supply a tracking service of 100 meter or less. With the FCC (Federal Communications Commission) becoming free from control or domination of government agency, they regulated that phone transporters should create GPS technology in all mobile phones or handsets. However, a person cannot use this as soon as he buys a cell phone. Precisely, data or information tracking are offered by wireless networks using the GPS technology.

In United States, Motorola and Blackberry were the ones who started the GPS technology. Motorola used it for business purposes, while the Blackberry was used by important people in government agencies.

So, how to track a cell phone number? There are many ways to trace a mobile phone number. These include the following:

• In the world of international network, a person may use reverse cell phone numbers tracking by typing the cell phone number and the country. Then, the information will appear in these systems. The active cell phone number can release some information like the owner's location through satellite maps.

• A person may also call his or her network provider to track a person. Some network providers have already included some features in a SIM (Subscriber's Identity Module) or what we call the smart card to track a certain person by using the information of his number.

On a positive note, people can enjoy this to find a person they know. This can lessen risk of stalkers who call a person without identification. This development in technology will surely take the mobile phone industry and network providers to a higher level.
